There is a very large statue of Christ in the rotunda of the original Johns Hopkins Hospital. The sculptor depicted Jesus reaching out - hands extended, a caring gaze. It's magnificent to see. Inscribed in the pedestal are the words of Christ, " Come unto me all ye who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest." Holden wanted his picture taken here.

If you look closely you can see the the nail prints in Jesus' feet. The hospital staff tells how over the years so many people have touch his extended foot that it has been worn very smooth. Some people place small slips of written prayers on the pedestal. Nearby is a book where many visitors have also written prayers - some expressing thanks for answered prayers and others asking for divine intervention on behalf of someone.
