The "Haunted" Buxton Inn

This past week I was on a business trip near Columbus, Ohio. My hosts had arranged my lodging beforehand. It turned out to be the Buxton Inn, supposedly one of Ohio's most haunted places. The inn was founded in 1812 and today is a collection of houses that make up a bed and breakfast style establishment.

Through its history the Buxton has been frequented by many people, some of whom were quite famous. I understand Charles Dickens, Abraham Lincoln, William McKinley and Harriet Beecher Stowe all slept there at some time or another.

There are many creepy experiences that travelers have had through the years with "ghosts" at the Buxton. At bedtime I stayed up a bit to see if I could observe an apparition, but nothing happened. No ghostly lady...no shadowy cat...nothing. So, I turned out the light and went to sleep. It was one of the most relaxing and restful nights I've ever had away from home.

Sounds exciting. You must not have stayed up late enough. Midnight is the magical hour you know.

I couldn't make it 'till midnight. I had been up since 3am that morning. But you could be right...maybe all the action happened while I was sleeping.

Perhaps the ghosts fluffed your pillows while you had your back turned, and that is why you rested so well. :)
