The Capital Trip - August 5-6, 2004

Washington D.C. - August 2004. Eric, Hannah and Nate resting on the steps of the National Gallery of Art as I snap their picture in the evening light. I got to spend about an hour in the art gallery and barely had time to scratch the surface. There was an awesome four-panel work there. I can't remember who the artist was but I think it was called "The Life of Man". Really intriguing!

Was it by Dutch painter Jan Steen? I think he has one titled that but I'm not sure about the "four panels".

No, I'm pretty sure it was an American painter. We were in the that section. Oh...I just can't remember his name.

Maybe it was Thomas Cole's The Voyage of Life??? It has four parts.

"The Journey of Life" ...I think that was it! Jon, you're a genius! I didn't realize you were so up on the arts. You are so multifaceted.
