Circle of Friends

Friday night was fun. I had dinner with friends that I don't get to see too often. The plans had been set. We were to meet at Ruby Tuesday's at 6pm. I rushed home from work to get ready. I was about 5 minutes late when I finally arrived for dinner. I walked in and approached the hostess. No, they weren't taking reservations tonight. So now I didn't know if my friends were already in the dining room or possibly even more late than I was. Suddenly, from behind the hostess stepped Mandy. They has seen me, but I hadn't seen them. So all was well. I joined my friends, Brendan, Missy and Mandy at their booth. Our waitress continued to refer to me as the "late" one. I half expected her to pin a big red "L" to my chest. Once we had the menu decisions made, we had a great time catching up on what had been happening in our lives over the previous months. Missy updated us on her job and college classes. Mandy was full of news on what it's like working as a hospital nurse. Brendan had spent some study time this year at Oxford in England. Before we knew it, a couple of hours had slipped by and we were finishing our tall cake desserts. I love Ruby Tuesday's chocolate tall cake with it's double cake layering and chocolate mousse, oreo crumbs with whipped cream and vanilla ice cream. It's so huge you can make a meal of it alone! Perfect for a choco-holic like me.
